- 1 cup Toor Dalsoaked for 20 minutes
- 1/4 cup Green Garlicchopped finely
- 1 medium size Green onionchopped finely
- 2 medium size Tomatoesfinely chopped
- 1 tsp Ginger paste
- 2 Green chilies slit
- 1 tsp Red chili powder
- 1 tsp Coriander seeds powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp Asafoetida powder
- 1 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 tbsp Pure ghee
- 1/2 tsp Lemon juice
- Salt to taste
Try out this simple recipe and serve it with hot steamed rice. Follow below steps to make green garlic dal at home.
Pressure cook the Dal with turmeric powder and little salt for 4-5 whistles.
Heat ghee in a pan. Once it reaches smoking point, add cumin seeds and asafetida and let it crackle.
Now add green chilies, ginger paste and green garlic. Saute them on a medium heat until the raw smell goes away.
Now add onions and cook them until they are transparent.
Next, add tomatoes. Add red chili powder, coriander powder and salt. Cook it until tomatoes are cooked completely, ghee is separating.
Add the cooked dal and add water to make it a medium consistency.
Take a boil or two. Switch off the flame.
Add lemon juice and mix well. Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.
