Wash Idli Rice and Urad Dal separately.

Wash Poha separately.

Add enough water to all the three ingredients and allow them to soak for 6-7 hours.

First, remove the excess water from the rice, dal as well as poha. In a mixer grinder, grind rice and poha to a fine paste using very little water.

Now, grind urad dal too using very minimal water.

Mix all three of them in a deep bowl adding salt to taste. Ensure that the vessel you’re using is big enough. This is because after fermentation, the volume of the mixture will be double. Now, let this batter ferment overnight or for 8 hours. If you’re living in a cold country, then place the batter in an oven or some warm place.

After fermentation, take an idli stand. Brush the moulds with oil. Now, pour a spoon of batter into this moulds and let them steam for 8-10 minutes. Insert a tooth pick and see. If it comes out clean, then de-mould the idlis.
