- 1/2 kg boneless chickencut into 1-inch pieces
- 2 tbsp spring onionsfinely chopped
- 1/2 cup capsicumroughly chopped
- 2 tbsp rum
- 2 tsp red chili sauce
- 2 tsp black pepperfreshly ground
- 3 tsp garlic paste
- 4 tbsp corn flour
- 2 egg whites
- salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
For the Sauce:
- 2 tsp garlicroughly chopped
- 1/2 cup spring onionsroughly chopped
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 dried chilimedium spicy
- 1 capsicumroughly chopped
- 3 tbsp white Vinegar
- 200 ml chicken stock
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 3 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 1 1/2 tbsp soya Sauce
- 2 tsp corn flour dissolved in 1 tbsp water
- 4 tbsp pineapple chunks
It is a simple, yet tasty recipe. Here are the steps and directions you need to cook this delicious chicken recipe at home.
Making Sweet & Sour Chicken:
Mix all the ingredients of the marinate with the chicken pieces. Set it aside for 3-4 hours.
Heat oil in a deep pan. Deep fry the chicken pieces until they are tender.
Remove it on a kitchen towel to drain excess oil. Keep it warm while preparing the sauce side by side.
Making the Sauce:
Heat oil in a pan. Once it reaches smoking point, stir fry spring onions, garlic and chili for a minute.
Next add capsicum and cook for a minute.
Add vinegar, sugar, soya sauce, ketchup and chicken stock. Mix well.
Taste and see if salt is required. Adjust the salt seasoning.
Add the corn flour paste and mix well. Let it thicken for 2 minutes.
Now, add pineapple chunks and mix well. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes.
Add the fried chicken pieces and let it cook for a minute.
Once done, garnish with chopped spring onion greens and serve hot.
